Yellowknife Baptism

In the Northwest Territories, May means spring is on its way. The snow has melted away, the days get longer and longer, and there is heightened expectations for getting into the great outdoors. All that paled in comparison to the excitement that was felt in the Yellowknife Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sabbath, May 9, 2009 when we had the pleasure of witnessing Lisa Muyambo step forward in faith and unite with Jesus in baptism. Lisa recently graduated from the Amazing Adventure children’s evangelism series led by members Sheila and Noel Cruz. Pastor Brad Dahr had the honour of baptizing Lisa while Lisa’s father Climate stood by her side in the water and her mother Joymore sang a song for Lisa, “Does Jesus Care.” Lisa is already active in ministry, participating enthusiastically in her Sabbath School class and our children’s ukulele band that visits the seniors center twice a month. She continues to grow in Christ and is an avid Bible student. While the whole church stood in support of Lisa it was extra special for her that day because her baptism was witnessed by her grandmother Constance Gwasira, who was visiting her family from Zimbabwe.

  1. This is a very important moment for our family. Lisa is my niece. I and my family live in Central California in the USA. On Sabbath, June 20th, my son Kudakwashe M. Gwasira is also going to be baptized. His Uncle Dr George Dzimiri from Loma Linda University is going to perform the baptism. It is a high point in our family and hope that these two cousins will grow to love Jesus more and also learn to serve Jesus in ministering to others for Him. Uncle to Lisa, Pastor Martin Gwasira
